Don't Be Radicchioless

A blog by Marc Marchini, Sales and Marketing Manager for J Marchini Farms.

My Grandpa walks in my office yesterday in usual fashion.

"Someone has been in our fields, and we didn’t know about it?!"

Nonno, as I call him, hands me an article from VegetableWest magazine. On one of the pages, there was a picture of our crew picking up irrigation pipe and below was a picture of Romanesco. After giving the article a short read I was intrigued and excited. Foodies out there are interested in our specialty vegetable! They notice small fields being harvested, pull the car over, take pictures, and are curious. THEY ARE CURIOUS.  Curiosity drives consumers to examine field harvests at the roadside, but are unable to purchase specialty produce in retail markets.

The article, which is posted on our news page, is verifiably J. Marchini Farms Romanesco. Of that same Romanesco, we shipped a total of 150 cases to Los Angeles this season, some ended up in Kroger but mostly into restaurants (Bishops in Merced makes a awesome Romanesco Soup). Not bad for a first season, but the curious editor is right, we need to get this special item of perfection out to all.

Look for it next season as this seasonal item will only be available in December and January.
