J. Marchini Farms, Le Grand Calif., recently introduced a proprietary almond variety.
The almonds, which are only available through J. Marchini Farms, have a slightly wrinkled skin and medium size, according to a news release.
“The Marchini almond is the perfect nut for blanching, so we decided to process this almond and market our very own blanched, lightly roasted and lightly salted California-grown Marchini almond — an ideal nut for snacking and entertaining,” Marc Marchini, sales and marketing manager, said in the release.
Retail packages of the almonds are available for purchase on the company’s website. A case (12 containers per case) of 1-pound containers of the almonds is $70. A case of 8-ounce containers costs $48. An 8-ounce container of Marchini almonds retails for $3.99-5.99, according to the release.
The Marchini family has cultivated the original almond tree’s offspring since 1962 and received a patent in 2001 for the Marchini variety.
